The regular meeting of Council was held today at 4 :00 P. M. and was adtended by Chairman of Council Logan, who presided and Councilmen Cann, Sharpley, Righton and Lovell. Also Chief Young and a Mr., K.e-n 4y., Oe°i rti uFB. ^lTe " "f.._ The matter of purchasing a new fire engine was discussed and some estimates were submitted after which a committee was appointed consisting of Councilmen Lovell, as Chairman, and Sharpley and Righton to investigate and ascertain what the total cost would be and report to the Finance Committee. The bill of material for repairing the Toll Station on 16th Street amounting to approximately $120.00 was referred to the Finance Com- mittee. Mrs. H: S. Richards of the committee in charge of the Town Library requested that electric service be maintained in the building at expense of the Town. Request refused at this time. The Chairman of the Public Works Committee was authorized to pave 12th Streit from 3rd Avenue westward, a width of 20 feet with cut back asph.lt . There was some discussion about grading and opening streets through private property and leveling lots. It was decided that this be stopped and that no grading on private property be done until the owner is ready to build. It was decided to permit the salary of Supt. of Construction, Bryan, to remain as it is $162.00 per month for the remainder of the fiscal year. Councilman Logan informed Council that the space between Butler Avenue and the Bulkhead from 1st Street north had been beautified and converted into a small park and helped to improve the appearance of that section of the island. It was moved and seconded and passed unanamously that Col. Ganoe and his orficers of Fort Screven be extended thanks for the splendid 30 hospitality extended by them to the Mayor and Councilmen of Ravannah Beach at the recent oyster roast at the island. The regular meeting of Council was held today at 4:00 P. M. and was attended by Mayor Bright, who presided, and Councilmen Logan, Sharpley, Solomon, Righton, Lovell and Cann. Also Messrs. Geo. W. Hunt, Kinard and Coatsworth. Mr. Coatsworth requested permission to use his loud speaker equipment on the Island on the Fourth of July, Labor Day or any day preceeding any holiday, sub- ject to Police regulation. The matter was referred to the Assessment Committee. The committee appointed to investigate the matter of purchasing a new fire engine submitted estimates that they had received from several representatives of fire equipments. The lowest bid being the Darley International Fire Truck which figure was $ 2,711.06. It was moved and seconded and passed that the Darley International Equipment be purchased and that the matter be referred to Council- men Lovell and Soloman to conclude negotiations and then referred to the Finance Committee to arrange payment. ... "See resolution on opposite page. Mr. Hunt appearing for the Union Society requested information as to the status of the work that was to be done on the Bethesda Track. Mr. aunt was informed that as to the paving of three streets requested by him, if he will furnish material the Ton will pave the three streets, 20 feet wide, and as each lot in this sub- division is soli. the Town will grade it when the purchaser makes arrange- ments to build. Also the Town is to have the right to remove any surplus sand. The minutes of the meetings of February 5th, and March 12th, were read and adopted. Application having been made by a Carnival operator for license for operating various rides etc. The matter was referred to the License Committee.
