Enclosed with this letter you will find a laboratory summary sheet with the analyses and results for
the raw water samples collected on August 24, 2011, November 5, 2003, and October 2, 2002, from Well
#1. You will also find the laboratory analysis report from the August 24, 2011, sampling event. In
comparing the August 24 sampling event to the other two sampling events, pH seems to have risen
slightly, and conductivity has declined. Temperature has remained nearly the same. For all three samples,
nitrate/nitrite and volatile organic compounds have remained undetected.
Analyses for the August 24, 2011, sampling visit included chloride, combined nitrate and nitrite,
sulfate, volatile organic compounds (solvents, gasoline components, etc.), and a variety of metals.
Measurements for pH, electrical conductivity, temperature, and dissolved oxygen were taken in the field at
the time of sampling. Field results and laboratory results were compared to the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) Primary and Secondary MCLS and copper and lead action levels. No analyte exceeded
EPA's Primary or Secondary MCLS or copper/lead action levels. We use the EPA Primary and Secondary
MCLs, which apply only to treated water offered for public consumption, merely as guidelines for rating
the quality of raw ground water.
All analyses of water samples collected for the Ground -Water Monitoring Network are used to
assess the general quality of ground water in Georgia. At present, the Network consists of approximately
60 sampling stations drawing water from specific important aquifers distributed throughout Georgia.
The city's cooperation is an important asset to the Ground -Water Monitoring Network. Thank you
again for the use of Well #1 as a station for the Network. We will contact you prior to returning for the
