The regular meeting of Cbuncit was held today at 4:00 p.rn. and as attended by Mayor Bright, who presided, and Council- men Sharpley, Righton, Solomon, Cann, Logan and Lovell and Mr. Mac Roberts. Mr Mac Roberts representing the Strachan Skyways requested- an appropriation of $ 350.00 to help the expenses of the various exhibitions put on by his company at the beach on Sundays and holidays extending through to Labor Day. It was moved, seconded and passed that v 300.00 be appropriated, and that it be paid A.natallmants only when an exhibitior2 , has been given. It was moved and seconded and passed that the Mayor be em- powered to execute the new lighting contract with the Sav&nnah Electric and power Company after its approval by the Town Attorney. Fire Chief Young submited a report advising of the fire hazard at the fishermans camp on the river (Mr Houlihans property) caused by the bad condition of the flues. The Building Inspector was requested to check up on the present condition and report his findings. The Building Spector repotted that the old building at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and the Strand on the property of Lrs Mary D.Mcl+adden was in bad condition and should be be either repaired or torn down. The Building Inspector was instructe .2to notify the owner that they would be given one week in wick to put the building or tear it down. It was reported that a bad fire and unsanitary hazard existed on the Tybrisa property caused by trash and other rubbish piled around close to the buildings. The Building Inepeetor was instructed to notify the the owners to correct this at once. I: r. J.M.Lang requested that the ditches in front of his prop- erty on Chatham Avenue and Eighteenth Street be closed. The Clerk was instructed to notify him that if hewould furnish the necessary sewer pipe the Town would lay samefor him and close the ditches. Councilman Sharpley recommended that the present building code be modified and redrafted to meet present day conditions. A committee was appointed consisting of Coulcidaten Sharpley, Solomon and Town Attorney McIntire, to redraft the building code. It was moved and seconded and passed that the following Ordinance be adopted; ORDINANCE. An Ordinance entitled " An Ordinance to amend that certain Ordinance passed by the Mayor and Cpuncilman of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, entitled "To provided for thentaxation of real and personal property in the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, for the fiscal year commencing Nay 1st, 1937 904 enco- rerea and to provide the rate of licenses for doing business in said town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, for the fiscal year ending April 30th, 1938, and for toher purposes". SECTION 1 BE IT OBDAIAD by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled and it is hereby ordained by the authority of the same, that that certain Ordinance heretofore passed by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, enetitled " To provide for the taxation of real and personal property in the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, for the fiscal year commencing May lst, 1937, and to provide for the rate of licesnes for doing business in Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, for the fiscal year ending April 30th, 1938, and for other purposes" be and the same is hereby amended in the following paeticulars. to -wit:- (a) That any license or tax heretofore charged or imposed for the keeping of doge within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, be and the same is hereb y repealed. (b) That any person, firm or corporation owning or operating seperately or in connection with other business a musical machine, which is played by inserting a coin shall pay therefor a license of Ten .($10.00) Dollars for each and every instrument so operated. (c) That any person, firm or corporation operating that amusement known as "Mickey Mouse", or similat game, shall pay the sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars. (d) Any perosn, firm or coproration operating solely or in connection with other business a novelty, or general mer- chandise store in which are sold, or offered for sale sundry and varied articles, the sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the authority aforesaid that all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.. There being no further business Council ad rned subject to the call of the Mayor.
