special meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.m. and
was tt . elected by Mayor Bright, who presided, and Councilmen Logan,
Solomon and Lovell. And Ht. Alex Lawrence.
Hr. Lawarance protested against airplanes usingbthe beach
adjacent to his cottage.
A communication 7as read from the Local Chapter of the .American
Red c oss aut: in ng ;certain suggestions for waterfront protect-
ion and particularly that the Town employe at least eight life-
guards at a salary of $ 60.00 per month, plus board and lodging,
for the duration of the season, and also other equipment, the
total coat of which will would amount to around $ 2000.00. The
matter was referred to Mr. Buckley to investigate and refport
with recommendations as to requirements for beach bathing pro-
tection.
A resolution adopted by the T.P.A.relative to the town cha4ng
the 1.:embers of their convention 25% per car to get into the
parking space was read and received as information.
It was moved, seconded and passed that a street light be placed
in the vicinity of board -walk at Eighteenth street and the
Strand.
A request was read from C.H.Bchroder that the Town lay a walk -
way along First Street from Third Avenue to Butler Avenue for
the protection of pedestrians. Council decided that if he
would furnish the mateaial necessary the Town would build the
walk -way.
Aimee B.Willcox petitioned that she be allowed the discounts
on her taxes for the years 1934- 5 -6 -7. Petition granted.
It was moved, seconded and passed that the Town purchase one
lighter load of oyster shells (9000 to 10000 bushels), at not
over.06% per bushel, delivered Tybee,
It was moved, seconded and passed that two new telephones be
installed, one at the Public Library for use of the Chamber
of Commerce and the other at Fire Chef Young's house for
fire calls, also that the phone at the jail which was used
only dmring the summer be changed to all year service,
Mayor bright asked the approval of Council in having some
palmetto logs that were given to him at Tybee hauled in for
him in the town trucks whenever they were sent to Savannah.
Permission granted.
A letter was read from D.G.Nichols, VPA Administrator, rel-
ative to Commtnity Building it is proposed to erect, No action
was taken.
It was rooted, seconded and passed that an additional appro-
priation of 50.00 be granted for the bringing of the ex-
hibitors Of the Strachan Skyways for exhibitions at the beach
on Sundays and Holidays.
It was moved, seconded and passed that after. July 15th, no
consideration would be given to requests for allowing dis-
counts on back taxes for any year.
It was moved, seconded and passed that the following ordi-
nance be aiopted;

AN ORDINANCE tp provide and making unlawful the
erecting of signs extending over the streets of Savannah
Reach, Tybee Island, Georgia, and for other purposes.
SECTION 1 BE IT ORDAINED D by the Mayor and
Councilmen of Savannah teach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in
regular meeting assembled that no sign of any character
shall be erected within the corporate limits of Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, unless and until a permit
shall be first obtained from the Mayor and Councilmen of
Savannah Mach, Tybee Island, Georgia, giving permission
for the erection and maintenance of such sign.
SECTION 2 BE IT FURTHER ORDAITED by the authority
aforesaid that any person, firm or corporation violating the
provisions of this Ordinance shall upon convition before the
Recodder's Court of said Town be punished by a fine not
exceeding the sum of One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars, or be
imprisioned, in the event the violating party is other than
a corporation, for period of Thirty (30) Days, or any
portion of either or both of said alternatives in the dis-
cretion of the judge presiding in said Court.
SECTION 3 BE IT .F`tJRTHJ aRDAINED that any ordinance
in conflict herewith be and the is hereby repealed.
There being no further business Ctuncil adjourned subject
to the call off the Mayor.
