BOROUGH OF CARTERET, COUNTY Or MIDDLESEX, NJ
A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE PROPERTY TAX
PAYMENT GRACE PERIOD
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 54:4 -66 and -67, the nonpayment of property taxes by May 11,
2020 shall result in interest being charged from the date the tax was payable until the date that
actual payment to the tax collector is made, as set forth by Borough of Carteret Resolution #20-
05; and
WHEREAS, Governor Murphy has issued Executive Order No. 130 permitting municipalities
to extend the property tax payment grace period due to the COVID -19 crisis; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the Borough of Carteret wishes to extend the property tax
payment grace period for the payment of quarterly taxes due on May 1, 2020 until June 1, 2020 in
accordance with Executive Order No. 130; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the governing body of the Borough of Carteret
hereby extends the property tax payment grace period until June 1, 2020.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Tax Collector is hereby authorized to make corrections
and notation upon the Municipal records as may be necessary to effect this Resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of the Resolution be forwarded to the
Borough Tax Collector and the Borough Chief Financial Officer.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the municipal clerk shall notify the Director of the
Division of Local Goverment Services in the Department of Community Affairs of the adoption
of the resolution within three business days of its adoption as required by Executive,Order 130.
