AMENDING & SUPPLEMENTING CHAPTER 25
OF THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTE RE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Borough Council of the Borough of Carteret (the
"Borough ") that Chapter 25 of the Code of the Borough is hereby amended and
supplemented as follows:
Section 1 Any reference to the title of Fire Superintendent shall be deleted
and replaced with the title of Fire Chief, or Battalion Chief, as the
case may be, as either title may, from time to time, be utilized and
appointed in accordance with Civil Service appointing authority
regulations and who shall be the head of all Fire Department
operations.
Section 2 There shall also be established the position of a civilian department
head/director for the department who, at the direction of the
Appropriate /Appointing Authority, as the case may be, shall assist
and work with the Fire Chief or Battalion Chief on such
administrative matters as departmental budgeting, equipment
purchasing and maintenance, personnel and training, and the like.
Section 3 All ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with the provision of
this ordinance are hereby repealed limited to the extent of any
such inconsistency.
Section 4 If any section, paragraph, sub - division, clause or provision of this
ordinance is adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall apply only to
the section, paragraph, sub - division, clause or provision so
adjudged andlhexemainder of this ordinance shall be deemed
valid and effective.
Section 5 This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and
publication according to applicable law.
