Report of the
Special Town Election
January 10th, 2023
In accordance with the Warrant, the inhabitants of Brewster, qualified to vote in
the Special Town Election met at the Brewster Baptist Church , Fellowship Hall ,
Tuesday, January 10th , 2023 .
This was a dual election , being held in conjunction with the Nauset Regional
District High School Renovation Project . Following the procedures of Chapter 71
Section 16 paragraph (n) the election was called for the maximum of 8 hours .
The polls were opened from 11 am until 7pm to remain consistent with the March
2021 election , for the same project . Brewster mailed out vote- by- mail
application postcards to all registered voters in town on December 6th , 2022 .
2088 voters returned those requests and were mailed ballots for this dual
election .

The polls were !declared open at 11 : 00 a. m .
The elections workers duly sworn-in were ; Charles Winn ; Warden , Joan
Scheffer/ Anne Best, Precinct One Clerks , June Cameron , Precinct Two Clerk;
and Cynthia Mathison / Lauren Elliott- Grunes , Precinct Three Clerks . The
Checkers and counters were ; David Briggs , Nancy Burdych , George Carey, Helga
Dyer , James Eddy, Mary Eddy, Beth Finch , Deborah Gengris , Robert Harris ,
James Holland, Joanne Hughes , Peter Johnson , Judy Lagregren , John Marten ,
Julie Menges , Paula Miller , Marjorie Oliver, Christine Patterson , Peter Scheffer,
Patricia Stanley, Elizabeth Taylor, Karen Whitney and Jayanne Monger,
Assistant Town Clerk .
The polls were closed at 7 : 00 p . m . with the following results .
Total votes cast in Precinct 1 : 829
Total votes cast in Precinct 2 : 768
Total votes cast in Precinct 3 : 820
Total votes cast . 2417
Registered voters : 8659 28% voter participation .

QUESTION 1
Shall the Town of Brewster be allowed to exempt from the provisions of
proposition two and one - half, so - called , the amounts required to pay its allocable
share of the additional bonds issued by the Nauset Regional School District to
pay costs of renovating and adding to Nauset Regional High School , located at
100 Cable Road , North Eastham , Massachusetts , including the payment of all
costs incidental or related thereto ?
