HomeMy Public PortalAboutCouncil on Aging Board -- 2022-10-20 MinutesMinutes of Brewster Council on Aging Advisory Board Meeting October 20, 2022 Present: Denise Rego, Director, Co-chairs Andrea Nevins and Sharon Tennstedt, Annie Rapaport (COA Program Coordinator), Steve Holmes, Honey Pivirotto (Fin Com Liaison), Jay Green, Laura Usher, Jill Beardsley Absent: Cindy Bingham, Penny Holeman Meeting called to otrder and Governors' Orders read by Sharon Tennstedt at 1:00 pm Documents and exhibits: Minutes of September 15, 2022, Meeting Agenda, Directors' Report, Action Plan Implementation FY23, NAR Grant Application Information Minutes of September 15, 2022 were unanimously accepted with corrections. i Sharon formally welcomed new member Jill Beardsley to the Board, DIRECTORS' REPORT: See Report October 14tH was the first day of Senior Swim at Brewster Green. Senior Swim is every Friday 10-12 noon and will continue until the Friday before Memorial Day. Bus repair — one of the white vans was in an accident about five months ago and the parts needed to repair it have just arrived. Denise is coordinating with CCRTA to repair the bus. With Regina's' retirement, we are looking to have volunteers cover the position Until another person is hired. Program Reports t See Action Plan4 FY23 - Mah Jongg postponed until November 14tH Maria Halverson had to postpone. If I Live to Be 190 will be in April at the Brewster Ladies Library. - There will be a ,Christmas movie shown at Serenity in December. Still having difficulty reaching person for advanced planning at Cape Cod Healthcare. - Need to look further into education for more care givers. - Field Trip to National Cemetery for Veterans Day. Needs Assessment' Needs Assessment and Development Contract will be submitted next month. i Committee Reports - Grant Options: - Grants from the National Association of Realtors can be submitted in January. We will also ask the CPC for a grant in December and use the additional money for more benches for other areas such as Drummer Boy Park. - Recreation Committee; The Pond Property Liaison has been changed to a voting member. The current lia'5on has a conflict of time, so the committee is looking for another person to be the liaison. The Pond Committee is trying to reschedule meetings to a later time. Four collapsible goals have been purchased for soccer. Funding for irrigation for the ballfields will be put in the CPC Grant, current expenditure will be $20,000. Andy Havens has been selected as the new Assistant Director. All fall sports programs have been filled. Vision Planning"Committee; - A public hearing held last week. A warrant was approved for the next Town Meeting. Additional Information can be found on the Town Website. t Bay Parcel Planning Committee; The pool will be open next year. The issues that Ineed to be addressed are parking and the road access to it. The town will b;e setting up a policy which will include the process, criteria and documents needed for One Time Event requests. Housing Committee Millstone Housing is a 16 -acre parcel of land. c - The building will be L shaped and contain 45 units.
