Chairman Larson called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
ROLL CALL
All Committee members were present
MINUTES
The minutes from the September 2 meeting were approved as
presented.
NEW BUSINESS
1) Winter Use of Clubhouse: ***********
Louie Howard will not operate the concession for the winter or
next season. Larson informed the Committee that Mr. Howard has
$7,000 worth of capital invested in equipment for operation of
the restaurant. The equipment is as follows: A snack shack,
storage shed, ice machine, and misc. sundry items. Howard
offered the equipment for trade to the City for 1 lifetime pass.
Frank Brown moved to recommend to City Council that the City
does not purchase Mr. Howards equipment as listed. DeEtte
McCarty seconded and the motion carried.
Chairman Larson discussed with the Committee two options for
winter operation. One being that Supt. Denham take reservations
for parties and talk to catering outfits to refer interested
parties to. The second being to begin the process of finding a
new concessionaire immediately. Ted Whiteman move to
recommend to the City Council to advertise immediately for a
Clubhouse restaurant vendor, during the interim, Supt. Denham
will book dates and bartender. DeEtte McCarty seconded and the
motion carried.
2) Handrails for Clubhouse:
Larson informed the Committee that the Men's Association
is interested in funding for new hand rails around the Clubhouse
building. They are also inquiring about bids from different
metal shops around town. The Committee agreed that a partial
metal railing for the south side of the building would be only
adequate. Frank Brown will confer with Tom Haynes on
specifications and bids and report at next meeting.
3) Nomination for Committee Member:
After Committee discussion about benefits of a senior
representative and a representative with golf course experience,
Chairman Larson gave a list of names already submitted to the
Mayor as follows: Jim Burum, Harold Simpson, Archie Breedlove,
and Craig Jackson. The Committee agreed with these nominations.
4)Trees:
Chairman Larson informed the Committee of the men's Association
interest in funding tree replacement for this season. They
would like to fund 20 to 40 trees for this spring. Supt. Denham
is to talk to nursery that supplied last year's tree about
different species, price in quantity and sizes of trees.
5) Carl's Contract:
Chairman Larson informed the Committee of the City Council's
action to authorize the reopening of the golf pro's contract to
negotiate fee for the coming season. Carl will decide if he
would like this to happen and discuss it at the next meeting.
Carl produced a list of this seasons mini tournaments for the
Committee to examine. The Committee will analyze and discuss at
the next meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
1) Cart Storage
Committee did not reach any decisions on this matter. No
recommendations at this time, will discuss further at future
meeting.
2) Greens Roller
The Men's and Women's Associations both are not interested in
funding this item. They believe the cost outweighs the
benefits.
OTHER BUSINESS **********
1) Road Cut Into City Property
Recently, a road was cut into the entry way to the Clubhouse
through City property. The Committee feels there should be
punishment for such an act. Ted Whiteman moved to recommend to
the City Council that the City property at the northwest corner
of the Timberlost VI Subdivision that was disturbed be restored
equal to or better than original condition. This will include
grading and landscape of entire berm from access point all the
way to corner of golf course. Any punitive damages shall be
pursued by City Attorney. Frank Brown seconded and the motion
carried.
Harvey Bergstrom attended the meeting to voice some concerns of
his and others.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:15
The next meeting is scheduled for November 11, 1992.
