April 14th, 1938.
A special Meeting of Council was held to -day at 4 :00 p.m. and
was attended by Mayor Bright, who presided, and Councilmen
Sharpiey, Lovell, Solomon and Logan and Town Attorney Mclntire,
and Mr. J.E. Tant
After it was reco*miended by the, Town Attorney that it alright
to do sa', a motion was made, seconded and passed that the bill
of costs of the Clerk of the Superior $ 64.60, the bill of F.B.
Thigpen, Cburt Stenographer $ 27.50 and the deposit of costs
15.00 due the Supreme Court of Georgia in connection with the
case of S.D.Fitzgerald, et al, versus Henry M.Buckley, Clerk,
et al, be paid.
It was moved, seconded and passed that the books of the town for
the period May'.1,1937 to April 30, 1938 be audited and that the
work be awarded to Eaton Saussy & Co.,at not over 150.00.
It was moved, seconded and passed that the following ordinance be
passed:-
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE to be entitled " An Ordinance regulating the sale
and distribution of liquor within the corporate limits of Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia; eo fix a tax thereeer and to be
effective April 144, 1938, and for other purposes.
SECTION 1 BE TTORDAINiED by the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in regular meeting assembled and for
the purpose of raisein4 revenue that from and after the passage of
this Ordinance no person, firm or corporation shall sell, offer for
sale or give fur the purpose of inducing business any alcoholic
beverages permitted under the present, or futuxelaws of Georgia,
except and until there shall be paid a license in the sum of TWO
HUNDRED AND FIFTY (250.00) DOLLARS for such privilege. Said license
shall commence the 14th day of April, 1938, for aperiod of Twelve
(12) months and shall be payable before any sale, op- offer for se Je
shall be made.
SECTION 2 BE IT FUR'TuJR ORFAINTED that any person, firm or
corporation violating the provisions of this ordinance upon convictioh
before thePolicd Court of said Town be subject to a fine not exceed-
ing One Hundred ($ 100.00) Dollars and inprisionemt not exceeding
Thirty (30) Days for each violation of this ordinance withour
reference to the penalties 'Incurred under the State enforeement
of the Statute legalizing the sale of liquor and other intoxicating
beverages within the sate.
SECTION 3 BE IT FURTHAR ORDAINED that all ordinances, o rpart s of
ordinances in conflict` herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
It was moved, seconded and passed that the following ordinance be
passed;
ORDINACE. -
AN ORDINANCE to be entitled " An ordinance to provide forthe
issuance of licenses and to regulate the sale, handling, or
dealing in intoxicating beverages within the cotporate limits of
Sava-nah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia.
SECTION 1 BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, ih regualar meeting assembled for
the purpose of raising revenue that from and after the passage of
this Ordinance no person, firm or corpora ion shall sell any
intoxicating beverages, until after first obtaining an approved
petition from the Police Committee of said Town, which said
petition sha.1 be approved by said Police Committee before any per-
son fiirm or corporation shall enegage in such business.
SECTION 2 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that any person, firm or
cor,oration violating the provisions of_this ordinance shall
upon .conviction before the Police Court of said Town be subject
tp pay a fine not exceeding One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars and
inprisonment not exceeding Thirty (30) Days for each violation of
this ordinance.
SECTION 3 AE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that all ordinances, or
parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are
hereby repealed.

elect McMillan and Town Attorney Mclntire.
The minutes of the meetings of March llth, 23rd and April 14th
were read and approved.
The Assessment Committee met on March 31st, 1938, for the pur-
pose of arriving at propertyrmvaluations for the year commencing
May 1, 1938 and submitted the following report;
