ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI,AMENDING SECTION 34-27 OF THE
CITY CODE, TRANSIT SYSTEM FARES, TO ESTABLISH A HALF FARE PROGRAM IN
ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL REGULATIONS.
Whereas, the Federal Transit Administration requires a half fare program be established for use
by the elderly, persons with disabilities and persons displaying a Medicare card;
Now, Therefore, be it enacted by the Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, as follows:
Section 1 . Sec. 34-27 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby
amended as follows:

The fare on fixed routes shall lie one-half the general Pure charged in Section 34-27.A. above for
persons 11ge 611 years and over,persons with(I is.1hilities and )1ediclu•e ell ydholders. '1'o access the

I. Passengers shall short photo identificalion and proof of eligibility al file time fares are

Department by providing photo-identification, proof ul'cligibilily 1u►d completion of the
"Jel'ITI.1111 Application fur 111111'Fare 111rss Idelilification Card." Proof of eligibility for the
bolt-fare rass identification Card shall be:
(a) a Mudicarc curd; or
(h) proof ot• age, if age 611 or older, such as driver's license or identification earl
issued by a stale agency; or
(C) proof, of disability, such as ADA eligibility card. Veleraus Administration
disability card, or physician statcn►cnt.

17. The fare for the denumd-response bus for the handicapped will he one dollar($1,00) per trip, Persons
requesting this service must meet eligibility criteria as established by the Director of"filtnmperrtntirnt
Com►nunity Developntcv►t in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990(ADA)and
the U.S. Department of Transportation implementing regulations, 49 CFR, f'ar•t 37 and subsequent
updates. A doctor's certification may lie required. Bus service to be provided in the city limits only.

the City Code in order to implement this section.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be effective: November 1, 2004•
