ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING THE CITY
CODE BY ESTABLISHING A NEW SECTION 1-18 (FORM OF PAYMENT)-r0 CHAPTER
1 (GENERAL PROVISIONS).
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Chapter 1 (General Provisions) of the City Code is hereby amended
by adding Sec. 1-18 (Form of Payment) to read as follows:
Sec. 1-18 Dorm of Payment.
Wheneverany provision in this Code culls fir payment by tiny person or entity,such payment
may be in the 16tin of cash or check.
A. Payments in cash nnay be nurde in bills(Federal Reserve Notes)or silver coins of
the United States, provided, however, that no person shall have the right to[My, llpon any one debt,
dimes and half dimes to an aunount exceeding ten dollars, or of`twenty and twenty-five cent pieces
exceeding twenty dollars,or pennies, not to exceed one dollar. (Authorized by§408.010 KSMo)
B. Payments may he made by anoncy order, cashiers check, or other negotiable
instruments approved in advance by the city.
C. Payments unay he made byelleck under such conditions as the I-inarnce f)irector•may
prescribe. Forany check which is returned,paynncnt is stopped,or the check is dishonored,the maker
thereot'shall pay the city an additional Twenty and flo 100 Dollars($20.00) which shall be deducted
first from any subseyucnt payntcut to the city fir any purpose.
.Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date
of its passage and approval,
