HomeMy Public PortalAbout2004-23 Authorizing the Purchase of three new vehicles for the Fire Rescue DepartmentRESOLUTION NO. 2004-23 A CAPITAL PROJECT AUTHORIZING RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO PURCHASE THREE NEW VEHICLES FOR THE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Village Manager is hereby authorized to purchase three new fire vehicles in an amount not to exceed $55,000, as described in the accompanying memorandum. Section 2. That the Village Manager is hereby authorized to sell three Village vehicles as described in said memorandum. Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. Menendez Office of the Village Manager DT May 24 2004 TO Tom" onorabl- ► 1 - +r and Members of the Village Council R Men Fire Rescue Department Vehicle Replacement RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Village Council approve the attached Resolution for the purchase of three (3) new staff support vehicles for the Fire Rescue Department for an amount not to exceed $55 000 BACKGROUND In an effort to replace aging large fuel consuming staff support vehicles the Chief of Fire Rescue is requesting the following purchases to be authorized • Two (2) four door Ford Taurus sedans at a cost of approximately $14 000 each • One (1) four door Ford Explorer at a cost of approximately $24 300 These vehicles will replace two (2) four door four wheel drive 1998 Chevrolet Suburbans and one (1) 2000 Ford Crown Victoria These new vehicles will be purchased through the Florida Sheriffs Association s Florida Association of Counties Bid Award Announcement Funds for purchase will come from the Capital Fire Apparatus Replacement Fund Additionally the Fire Rescue Chief is recommending the sale of the aging high mileage (1996) pick up truck assigned to Public Works the 1998 Chevrolet Blazer assigned to the Recreation Director and one(1) 1998 Chevrolet Suburban through publicized sealed bids Monies from the public resale will be allocated back into the Capital Fire Apparatus Replacement Fund 88West McIntyre Street Key Biscayne Florida 33149 (305) 365 5514 Fax (305) 365-8936 MISSION STATEMENT TO PROVIDE A SAFE QUALITY COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL ISLANDERS THROUGH RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT
