HomeMy Public PortalAboutGAC Minutes 1991 03/12GOLF COURSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES MARCH 12, 1991 7:00 P.M., CITY HALL Attending: Engen McCarty Williamson Hormaechea Whiteman Jackson Schmidt Hoss NEW BUSINESS YARDAGE SIGNS: Brenda Webb, owner of the Wood Rout presented her design. She discussed a typical contract and listed the conditions. Some of those being a five (5) year maintenance program, an estimated cost of $3000.00 for the 18 holes, and a time period of six weeks to complete the work prior to hanging. The committee suggested that Brenda may want to present her ideas to the ladies' and men's associations at a future date. CLUBHOUSE DAMAGE CONTRACT: Marc Jorgensen has been selected to repair damage done by broken pipes. In addition to work covered by insurance, the contractor will also be in charge of installing a wall heater in the mechanical room, temperature sensing devices in and around wet system, and any other improvements that may be required. The committee strongly recommends the carpet be replaced with something comparable in quality and price. The committee believes the old carpet has lost a great deal of life expectancy, therefore, it should not be re -used. CART STORAGE, TRAIL FEES, AND LOCKER RENTALS Subcommittee members Whiteman and McCarty presented their review of current fees and their proposal for 1991 (attached). CART STORAGE: The pro contract outlines there will be no private cart storage in the new building. The committee suggested exploring costs to build a new private cart storage on property located across from the maintenance shop. Whiteman motioned to direct Jackson to explore the costs of a fenced in lean-to comparable to existing cart storage (no more than 40 spaces). Hormaechea seconded. All were in favor and the motion passed unanimously. TRAIL FEES: Hormaechea motioned to adopt option 1 at $120.00 a year for 1991. Whiteman seconded. The motion carried with four in favor and one against. Williamson motioned to direct Hoss to provide a quantitative picture of the numbers of private carts stored on and off the golf course. Hormaechea seconded. A11 were in favor and the motion passed unanimously. LOCKER RENTALS: Following a brief discussion, whiteman moved to adopt Option 1 at $10.00/year per locker. Hormaechea seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Williamson further moved that the pro wait no longer than July 1st to allow existing renters to pay for locker space. After July 1st remaining lockers will be rented to those waiting on the list. OTHER ITEMS CONCESSIONAIRE CONTRACT: Schmidt informed the committee there are plenty of interested parties. The Chairman directed Williamson and Engen to make up the interview committee. SUPERINTENDENT POSITION: The chairman appointed Hormaechea and Whiteman to the interview committee with Bud Schmidt. Interviews will be conducted during the first week in April. CLUBHOUSE STATE INSPECTION: The state inspector listed several problems that must be addressed and remedied. Some critical areas may involve additional costs to the city. 1991 BUDGET: With the changes in the Pro and Concession Contracts, the maintenance budget for 1991 will be reviewed within a month or two. GOLF FOUNDATION: Williamson motioned Hormaechea bring a list of lifetime pass holders to be recorded in the minutes of the committee's next meeting. Hormaechea seconded, all were in favor. The motion passed unanimously. Furthermore, the committee requests a financial report from the McCall Golf Course Foundation. Hormaechea will acquire the report to be posted in the clubhouse. SPRING MOUNTAIN RANCH PROJECT: The committee briefly discussed the planned lay -out for the Spring Mountain Ranch project, formally known as Whispering Forest. The committee suggested the L.I.D. proposal be further explored. the land use diagram presented by Bud Schmidt was generally agreeable to the committee. They agreed it was a great improvement over past proposals. NEXT MEETING: April 9, 1991.
