AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING THE CODE
PERTAINING TO SEWER CONNECTION AND EXTENSION CHARGES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 29, SEWERS AND SEWAGE DISPOSAL, ARTICLE V.
RATES AND CHARGES, Section 131 Connection charges, of the Code of the City of
Jefferson is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 29-131. Connection and Extension charges.
A. Connection Charges. In addition to any other charges A a sewer connection

B. Extension Fee. In addition to any other charges an extension fee of six
thousand dollars ($6000.00) is hereby levied against any person desiring to
have an extension of the City sewerage system constructed by the City built
to provide service to any property. The extension fee shall only apply if the
City undertakes the project. Any proposed project utilizing this section shall
meet the following criteria and are subject to the express limitations:
1. The project will involve at least a density of one (1) connection for everry
one hundred (100)feet of main constructed.
2. The fee shall be assessed on a per lot equivalent, defined as an area
adjacent to the proposed extension containing 22,000 square feet or portion
of line frontage in two hundred feet increments.
3. At least five (5) separate independent entities will be served by the
requested extension.
4. All requests for extensions will be considered and evaluated based on
stated criteria,availability of funds,cost/benefit analysis of the project and the
system,and other considerations. Priority shall be given to projects within the
corporate limits.

5. Upon request and subject to Council approval,extension fees may be tax
billed as provided by law.
C. The wastewater system connection charges and extension fees Imposed by
this section are in addition to plumbing permit fees and all other fees and
charges imposed by the City.
D. A plumbing permit to connect to the wastewater system shall not be Issued
until any connection charges and extension fees have been paid.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect July 1, 2003.
