AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING CHAPTER 22
OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI PERTAINING To VEHICLE
OWNER RESPONSIBILITY FOR VIOLATIONS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . Chapter 22, Sec. 22-32 (Responsibility of owner for violations), of the Code
of the City of Jefferson is hereby amended, by adding the following subsection, as follows:
Sec. 22-32. Responsibility of owner for violations.

leased or rented the vehicle to another, the owner of the vehicle 111,11,avoid liability under• this

number of the person leasing or renting said vehicle (lessee/ren(er).The information must be
deliverer) to the proper ruunicipal authority within three working days from fire lime ol'wrillen
nolificafiou of cil:nic►n and request for information. I7aiIn•c or refusal to provltle such
information within(lie period required by this subsection will render the owner liable for said
violations. Provided, however, if a leased or rented n►ofor• vehicle is illegally parked due to a
defect in such vehicle, which renders it inoperable and is not caused by file fault or neglect of
the lessee/renter, then the owner shall be liable on any violation for illegiil par•kilig of such
vehicle.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date
of its passage and approval.
