AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY OF CITY
TAXES AND ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,MISSOURI FOR
THE YEAR 2002.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is hereby levied and assessed the following rate on all Real Estate and Personal
Property, and other tangible property within the limits of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, not exempt from
taxation by the Constitulion or the laws of the State of Missouri,as shown by the assessment book of the City
of Jofforson, Missouri, for the year 2002.
FIRST: For the purpose of paying all current expenses of the City of Jefferson, Missouri,for
the fiscal year, the sum of$.48 on the one hundred dollar valuation.
SECOND: For the purpose of establishing and maintaining Public Parks in the City of
Joffersorl, Missouri, the sum of $.18 on the one hundred dollar valuation.
THIRD: For the purpose of creating and maintaining a Firemen's Retirement System for the
Firornon of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, the sum of $.08 on the one hundred dollar
valuation.

rolurnod by the Assessor of fho County of Cole, Missouri,and corrected by the County Board of Equalization,

Under the authority vested in this office its Mayor and tinder the Charter of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, I hereby exercise my veto power udder Article 3, Section 3.1 1(g) and veto Bill
2002-55 - Establishing Rate of"I'axation tier VY 2002. As required by Charter, I rapt delivering this
message to the COLInCil prior to the coniniCilcement of the mecting on September 3, 2002.
It is my view, as Mayor, that this Bill is poorly timed and that I cannot support a tax increase
at this time. I urge the Council to adopt it Bill which establishes tax rates tit the same level as
currently exists,
