AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI PROVIDING FOR THE VOLUNTARY ANNEXATION OF 37.28 ACRES OF REAL PROPERTY CONTIGUOUS TO AND LYING WEST OF THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS INTO THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, LOCATED IN THE SOUTHWEST QUARTER OF THE SOUTHWEST QUARTER OF SECTION EIGHT, TOWNSHIP 44 NORTH, RANGE 12 WEST, IN COLE COUNTY, STATE OF MISSOURI, AND REPEALING SECTION 1-17 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, DEFINING THE EXISTING CITY BOUNDARY AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION PERTAINING TO THE SAME SUBJECT. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 71.012,2 RSMo, 1994, the City Council of the City of Jefferson was presented with a verified petition requesting that the city annex the unincorporated area of land described in Section 1; WHEREAS, the petition requesting said annexation was signed by all fee interests of record in all real property located within the area proposed to be annexed; and WHEREAS, a public hearing concerning the annexation was advertised on January 9, 2003 in the Jefferson City Post Tribune; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council finds and declares that the land described in Section 1 is contiguous to the City boundary; that the annexation is reasonable and necessary to the proper development of the City; and further, did determine the City has the ability to furnish normal municipal services to the area. Section 3. A public hearing was held on January 24, 2003 as provided by law, concerning the annexation of the unincorporated area described in Section 1. Section 4. Section 1-17 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, Missouri is hereby repealed and a new Section 1-17 is hereby enacted, which shall read as follows: Sec. 1-17. City boundaries. The limits and boundaries of the city are extended, defined and declared to be as follows, in the counties of Cole and Callaway, in the State of Missouri: BEGINNING in the center of the Missouri River at a point on the northerly extension of the westerly line of Private Survey No.2680;thence southerly along the said northerly extension to the intersection of said northerly extension with the southerly line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad;
