HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD13347 BILL NO, 2001µe1 SPONSORED BY COUNCILMAN _.VINCENT_ lie .-, ORDINANCE_ NO._M 1�? �~� l AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF .JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, ELECTING THE L-6 RETIREMENT BENEFIT OPTION FOR ITS EMPLOYEES' BENEFIT PROGRAM IN THE MISSOURI LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM WHEREAS, the City has obtained, distributed, and made available as public information, on December17, 2001, an actuarial review of the cost associated with adopting the L-6 retirement benefit for its employees as required by Sections 105.660 and 105.685, RSMo 1994; and WHEREAS, more than forty-five (45) days have elapsed since the cost statement was made available before final adoption by the Council; and WHEREAS, the I_-6 benefit option was discussed during the budget hearings and agreed to and approved as part of the 2001-02 budget to be implemented effective July 1, 2002; and BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AN EMPLOYER UNDER THE MISSOURI LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM, HEREBY ELECTS THE FOLLOWING: Section 1, To adopt a change in the Benefit Program of member employees, changing to Benefit Program L-6. Section 2. The Clerk shall certify this election to the Missouri Local Government Employees' Retirement System within ten (10) days hereof. Such election shall be effective on the first day of July, 2002. Section 3, This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and approval. Allen Garner, City Counselor RE: LAGERS DATE: February 14, 2002 Attached is a copy of the correspondence received from the State of Missouri Joint Committee On Public Employee Retirement verifying that the documentation they have received concerning; the proposed changes to the LAGERS benefit plan is in compliance with the provisions of Section 105.675, RSMo. Also attached is a copy of the letter From LAGERS noting receipt of necessary documentation to change the benefit plan to L-6 along the updated rates for the plan which will be effective July 1, 2002. As a result of your action the subdivision will begin participating in the plan effective July 1, 2002 with the first month' s contributions due the system on or about August 1 , 2002 with the updated, computerized report . Your new employer rates to be effective July 1, 2002 are as follows : Prior.
