WHEREAS, On April 2, 2002, 73.22% of the voters of Jefferson City approved Proposition A to amend the City Charter by changing City elections to "non-partisan" elections. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OFF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Members of the council shall vote on the nominees to fill the vacancy. Election by the Council-The election by the Council to rill the vacancy shall occur no sooner than two weeks after file nomination is made. 3. Public Session-Between the time names are placed in nomination and the election by the Council, ut least one public forum shall be held where members of the public can meet the nominees. An informal questions and answer Period may also be used in which anyone may ask and receive answers to miscellaneous questions. C. As soon as is practical after each city election,the city clerk shall verify the count and certiry the results of the election to the city council. Chapter 20 (Municipal Judge, Court, Etc.), of the Code of the City of Jefferson is hereby amended pertaining to political affiliation, to read as follows: CHAPTER 20 MUNICIPAL,IUUCE,COU10', ETC. Sec. 20-4. Temporary judge.
