AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, MAKING IT UNLAWFUL Y "c"h
TO FEED MIGRATORY WATERFOWL WITHIN THE CITY AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE
` VIOLATION THEREOF.

WHEREAS, in recent years there has been a proliferation of migratory waterfowl in the City of Jefferson, and
WHEREAS, the City has received evidence that the feeding of migratory waterfowl encourages flocking of .° r} tr
such waterfowl resulting in a heavy concentration of droppings, andFt :�rx
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services, the Cooperative Extension of
University of Nebraska, and the Great Plains Agriculture Council in the article Waterfowl Damage irk°Q': �tit
Prevention and Control Methods found that waterfowl can contaminate reservoirs, aggravate
nuisance situations and create human health hazards, and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to minimize the potential hazards and protect the health and welfare of the citizens

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS :, j` r.
FOLLOWS:
4=' Section 1. A new section 18-230 (Feeding of Mi rq atory Waterfowl Prohibited) shall be added to the
Code of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, which shall read as follows: . { ,; '

A. No person shall feed,or leave food out for the purpose of feeding,migratory waterfowl
on any property of'the City or any agency of the City.
