Annual Small Wastewater Treatment Facilities reports:
Rick Burlet, Whitewater & Wastewater, presented the report for Serenity of Brewster.
- The system is running ok. Flow has increased to between 6-9,000 gallons a day in the last few months.
- They are having a bit of difficulty with de -nitrifying. Reasons for that could be that when it was in the idle
position, the "bugs" were not eliminated.
- Preventative maintenance is being done by adding some chemicals to the system to get the PH and
Alkalinity in line.
- They are adding a carbon source manually because the system has never run on any chemicals before.
They may have to do this on a regular basis.
- There may have been an infiltration issue from the recent heavy rain.
DB -suggested that the low flow may cause problems.

Joe Henderson, Horsley Witten, presented the report for Kings Landing
- The system is designed for 25,000 gallons per day. They see about 10,000 gallons per day.
- Aqua Point is a Bioclere System
- The plant is still not operating as it is supposed to.
- DEP issued an Administrative Consent Order and Horsley Witten has put together an action plan, which
outlines a process to get the system into compliance by 2026. If the plan isn't in compliance by then,
they will have to do a full replacement of the treatment piece of the plant.
- Most months the total nitrogen is above the 10 MGPL (milligrams per liter)
- BOD & TSS was also varying above the 30 MGPL
- They are working with Coastal Engineering, Operator and Aqua Point to try and come up with solutions.
- They are potentially planning on an MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilter Reactor) set up which is a newer
technology that Aqua Point uses.
- Aqua Point has checked over the entire system and can't figure out what the issue is.
Chad Simmons, Coastal Engineering, presented the report for Brewster Landing
- This is a small Bioclere System.
- The system is running fine, nothing has needed to be replaced during the past year.
- Quarterly testing is required but they do it monthly.
Town of Brewster (formerly Cape Cod Sea Camps)
- Amy von Hone stated that the property is pretty much shut down with no flow going into the system.
