AUTHORIZING EMERGENCY SEWER REPAIR CONTRACT
WITHB &W CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret (`Borough ") is in need of sewer repairs in various
locations within the Borough; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's Director of Engineering has certified that said work needed
to be done as an emergency condition threatening the public health, safety, and welfare of
the residents; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Director of Engineering has recommended an award of a
contract to B &W Construction Company to perform emergency repairs to these various
locations within the Borough; and
WHEREAS, B &W Construction Company presently has an existing contract with the
Borough to perform emergency repairs to the Borough sewer system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Council of the Borough -
of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. The appropriate Borough Officials are authorized and directed to
enter into a contract for emergency repairs within the Borough, as
recommended by the Borough's Director of Engineering, in a total
amount not to exceed $75,000.00 in accordance with B &W
Construction Company's existing contract with the Borough.
2. That this award is made as an emergency contract.
3. That this award is contingent upon the ability of funds for said
repairs.
4. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Borough's
Director of Engineering, Purchasing Department and B &W
Construction, Company.

and certified as a true copy of the
original oil September 18, 2020.

Today the crew went out to #2 Germak Drive, set up signs and cones. Cut, removed and disposed of the
pavement around the collapsed catch basins. Excavated around the catch basins. Removed all broken
block and bricks. Reconstructed both catch basins using solid concrete block, bricks and cement.
Plastered the inside and the outside of the catch basins. Backtilled around the catch basins using' /�"
blend stone compacting in lifts to prevent settlement. Supplied and installed 5 inch thick stabilized base
course asphalt around both catch basins. Cleaned up the area. Disposed of all excavated materials off -
site. Removed all signs and cones.
NOTE: The 15" RCP is collapsed on the other side of the driveway near the catch basin and 6 inch
corrugated pipe going to the basin across the way is missing the entire bottom of the pipe. Steve notified
Sammy from the Sewer Department about these pipes.

Today the crew went out to 415 Monroe, set up signs and cones. Cut, removed and disposed of the
pavement around the collapsed catch basin. Excavated around the catch basin. Removed all broken
block and bricks. Reconstructed the top of the catch basin using solid concrete block, bricks and cement.
Plastered the catch basin. Backfilled around the catch basin using 1 14" blend stone compacting in lifts to
prevent settlement. Supplied and installed 7 inch FABC top course asphalt with tack in 2 lifts. Cleaned
up the area, Disposed of all excavated materials off -site. Removed all signs and cones, Went to #2
Germak, installed tack around both catch basins that we reconstructed, then installed FABC top course
asphalt hes thick. Removed all signs and cones. These jobs are complete.
