MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC AND ADDING A NEW ARTICLE IX PERTAINING TO

t WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Transportation has scheduled a rehabilitation project
of the Route 54 westbound bridge and approaches to commence on January 30, 1998 with

Section 19 405. Definitions.
' As used in this section,the following terms shall have the meanings and usages indicated: t`

s1 Bicycle. Every vehicle propelled solely by human power upon which any,person may ride, ;r

Mlotoriaxd bicycle. Any two-orthree-wheeled device having an automatic transmission

Section 19406. Temporary Restriction of Pedestrian and Bicycle Traffic on the Missouri River
Bridge and Approaches in Jefferson City at Route 54.

Commencing on March t, 1998, and continuing through October 1, 1995, during the
bridge rehabilitation project,unless sooner repealed by ordinance,no person shall be a pedestrian
on or operate a bicycle upon the Missouri River Bridge and approaches in Jefferson City at Route
Section 19407. Review After Thirty(30)Days.
Thirty (30) days after the initial enforcement of this ordinance, this ordinance's

effectiveness and necessity shall be reviewed and a report and recommendation shall be made to +
the city council concerning the effectiveness and the continuing need for this ordinance. The report
shall specifically include the following information:
A. The practicality of(enforcing the ordinance and any problems with enforcement identifedg
E B. The number of persons prosecuted for a violation of the ordinance;and
C. The city's cost of enforcing the ordinance.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its
passage and approval through October 1, 1998.
