WHEREAS, the City adopted a hiring and promotional procedure.for the Fire Department by passage of Ordinance 12128 adopted on August 1, 1994; and WHEREAS, certain changes and improvements have b9en proposed to the procedures. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFF=ERSON, � MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: f r Section 1. The Fire Department examination and selection procedure, established by 3 Ordinance 12128, is hereby modified. Section 2. The document entitled "Fire Department Examination and Selection Procedure," designated as Exhibit A and attached hereto, is hereby adopted as the official 4 procedure for examining and selecting fire fighters, fire drivers and fire captains in the 9 9 p Jefferson City Fire Department. _ Section 3. Completion of Employment Application ' Candidates for any employment or promotional examination shall complete an s application on a form to be obtained from the Cth�-p"ennel Human Resources office. Failure to complete an application form shall result in the applicant being refused permission to participate in any testing. Applications for admission to examinations must be received in the Gtr42ememel Human.Resources office no later than the date specified in the notification. The appointing authority may reject the application of any person and may terminate any further processing of an application if it is found that the applicant has made a false statement in his or ►; ;; ,f> her application or has attempted to practice any fraud or deception in his Or her , application or examination. st' t Bill 98-57 E xhibit!Page 1 4. f \ � 1l0fil Ell ibilily .lob applicants must meet the City's agars and residency requirements as well as meeting all of the minimum qualifications as set forth in the job description{ Candidates for the position of Fire Driver shall have a minimum of three (3) years j of full time professional experience as a Fire Fighter, Candidates for the position of Fire Captain shall have a minimum of six (6) years of full time professional ' firefighting experience with at least three (3) years experience as a Fire Driver. Any equivalent combination of training and experience in a full time position which provides the knowledge, ability and skill regUired of the positions of f=ire (i Driver and Fire Captain as set out in they respective job descriptions may be accepted for qualifying purposes. Prior to admission to any examination, applicants shall furnish proof of i .. identification. I Practical Examination 4 i The Practical Examination Board is hereby created and shall consist of six (6) i members selected by the Fire Chief. The Practical Examination Beard shall score the practical 1 examination. i The practical test shall be conducted as p art of the examination process and shall consist of tests of skills and abilities that are required to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. I.f.. Every Fire Fighter candidate's performance at each practical examination component shall be rated on a pass/fail basis with the candidate having to pass all tests to have his or her name added to the register of qualified candidateus. Candidates taking the Fire Driver practical examination shell be rated according to a performance scale. Scoring will be done independently on all components of the practical examination and the scores shall be averaged to derive a final overall score for the practical examination. Candidates taking the Fire Captain practical examination shall be rated according . to a performance scale. Experience Credit The appointing, authority or designee shall determine wheffwr !required education and experience qualifications or equivalences have been met. Candidates for promotion to Fire Driver or Fire Captain shall receive; an additional � r credit of one (9) point for each year of service beyond the minimum experience required for promotion up to a maximum of five-E) ton (10) points. Such additional points shall be added to the Combined Examination score and shall be the final eligibility score. For all-eligible candidates, the final eligibility :score shall be placed along with the applicants name in the appropriate promotional register.
