AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE MOAB TEEN CENTER ADVISORY BOARD
WHEREAS, the Moab Teen Center will be located at 203 E. Center St.; and
WHEREAS, the Moab Teen Center will provide a full range of services for Moab
youth ages 12-18; and
WHEREAS, The Moab Teen Center will be administered by the Moab City
Recreation Department according to guidelines and policies set forth by the
Moab Teen Center Advisory Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Moab that Municipal Code
Section 2.90 shall be created to read as follows:
2.84.010 Composition of Board. A. The Teen Center Advisory Board shall
consist of seven (7) members.
B. The membership of the board shall be drawn from a consistency of the
community, and shall include:
1. One representative from the Moab office of the Division of Child and
Family Services, to be selected by the Division of Child and Family Services.
2. One representative of Four Corners Mental Health, to be selected by
Four Corners Mental Health.
3. One adult representative from the Grand County School District, to be
selected by the Grand County School District.
4. One youth representative aged 12-18, selected by the Grand County
School District. Said youth representative may be rotated or be part of a pool of
eligible representatives, as determined by the Grand County School District.
5. Three at -large representatives selected from the community at large.
2.90.020 Appointment process. A. All at -large members of the board shall be
appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The Teen Center
Steering Committee will make recommendations to the Mayor for the first Moab
Teen Center Advisory Board.
B. All other members of the board shall be appointed by their respective
agencies, as provided for above.
2.90.030 Terms of Office. For the first board appointments, at -large members
shall be appointed for one-year terms, and other members shall be appointed for
two-year terms. All subsequent appointments shall be for two-year terms. Any
member's expired term shall continue until a new member is appointed or such
member is reappointed.

2.90.040 Responsibilities of the Moab Teen Center Advisory Board. A. The
Moab Teen Center Advisory Board, in an advisory capacity only, shall:
1. Adopt, maintain and update bylaws, a mission statement, and goals and
objectives for the Teen Center Advisory Board.
2. Adopt policies, procedures and guidelines for the Teen Center
programs and services.
3. Make recommendations to city staff and the Moab City Governing Body
regarding the annual Teen Center budget and capital expenditures, grant
applications, Teen Center services and programs, and appointments to the Teen
Center Advisory Board.
4. Interface with fundraising entities and assist with fundraising activities
and special events.
5. Perform Strategic Planning and program evaluations for the Moab Teen
Center.
This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage.
