ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AUTHORIZING AN
ELECTION TO APPROVE THE EXTENSION OF THE CITY LIMITS THROUGH
ANNEXATION.
WHEREAS, a public hearing concerning the
annexation of certain real estate to the
City of Jefferson, Missouri, was held, and a "Plan of Intent" and evidence in support thereof
was presented; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, adopted Resolution
No. RS96-21 on January 21, 1997, to annex an unincorporated area of land contiguous to
the present city limits, said unincorporated area of land being described in Section 2 below;
and ?

WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 12606 duly adopted by the Cit y Council on May 5
1997, and approved by the Mayor, the Council authorized annexation of the unincorporated
area which was the subject of that hearing; and
?' WHEREAS, the City of Jefferson, Missouri, did cause to be filed on May 12, 1997,
in the 19' Circuit Court of Cale County, Missouri, in Case No. CV197-627CC, a suit for a
.r:. declaratory judgment authorizing the City to annex the area of land described above; and
a WHEREAS, m Judicial Circuit Court on September 8, 1997, rendered a

judgment in favor of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, in a cause of action entitled "City of
` Jefferson, Missouri v. George T. Hartsfield, et. al.", CV197-627CC finding the annexation
{:. of the unincorporated area to be reasonable and necessary to the proper development of
the City of Jefferson, Missouri; and
E t' WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, believe
,F elections should beheld in the City to determine if a majority of the qualified voters voting
thereat are in favor of extending the limits of the City to include the unincorporated areas
' of land hereinbefore described.

THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
i 'JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Se 1. A proposition to extend the City Limits of the City of Jefferson, Missouri

M; as'described in Section 2 below, shall be submitted to the voters of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri and the voters of the unincorporated territory subject to the annexation
proceedings, and an election shall be held and conducted for these two areas on Tuesday,
the 3'ti day of February, 1998.
Section 2. The area to be annexed is described as follows:
Part of Mallridge Addition - Section 1, as per plat of record in Plat Book 10,
Page 54 of the Cole County Recorder's Office, part of Mallridge Addition -
Section 2, as per plat of record in Plat Book 11, Page 90 of the Cole County k

The corporate limits of the City of Jefferson, Missouri,shall be extended to include the following
