Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
July 15th, 1938.
The recessed meeting of Council of Zuly llth, 1938, was held
to -day at 8:00 p.m. in the chamber chamber, and was attended
by Mayor McMillan, who presided, and Councilmen Kreitzer, Tant,
May, Haar, Mayer, Town Attorney E.A.Dutton, and Chief of Police
Edwards.
The employement of a Consulting Engineer in connection with
the beach erosion project was discussed but no action was taken.
The matter of some of the business places remaining open. until
4 o'clock in the morning permitting the playing of coin music
machines and dancing, was discussed, after some discusrm it
decided that places of business could remain open but that
bamdmgdancing and music on the premises must stop at 2 o'clock
a.m. ,
It was decided that all licenses due must be paid at once, the
Mayor was requested to instruct the Chief of Police to collect
at once from all those owing for licenses or subpoena the parties
to court.
Councilman Mayer moved that taxes due on the lands to be conveyed
by the Tybee Beach Company to the Town for use of the propsed
Govenor's mansion be cacnelled, Councilman Tant seconded and the
motion passe. unanamously.
Councilman Haar _moved that a discount of 15.00 per machine on
merchandash:-_a-nd ; ngimaehi *es be granted on 1938 licenses, pro-
vided that the license is paid by August 1st, 1938, Councilman
Tant seconded and the motion passed unanamously.
Councilman Tant moved for the adoption of the following resolution,
Councilman Mayer seconded and the motion passed unanamously;
RESOLUTION,
WHEREAS, by resolution o f the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town.
of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in meeting assembled, on the
10th day of June, 1938, and election was called to be held in the
election precinct in the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
on the llth day of July, 1938, to submit to the qualified voters
of said twm the question of incurring debt and issuing the fol-
lowing bonds,, to -wit:
BONDS, the proceeds of which shall be used by the Town
of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, to correct and prevent erosion,
to be used for the improvement of the beach and to stop erosion
in the sum of $ 28,000.00.
BONDS, the proceeds of which shall be used by the Town
of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, for the erection of a Town Hall
in the sum of 2,000.00.
AND AREAS, by said resolution it was provided that the
form and manner in which said bonds should be executed would be
fixed by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by said the Mayor and Councilmen of the
Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in council assembled, that
each of said bonds authorized to be issued in said election shall
be signed by the Mayor Ofl said Town, the corporate seal of said
town shall be attached to of improssed upon said bonds, and attested
by the Clerk of Qouncil; the coupons to be attached to the bonds
shall not be authenticated otherwise than by facsimile signature
of the Mayor and Clerk of Council etched, lithograped or engraved
upon the coupons.
There being no further b:hsiness Council adjourned subject to the
call of the Mayor.

Extension of time fo �tifying property owners
of past due taxes.
Petition of Mrs. Lillian G. '•gin protesting against
nuisance in front of her p rty.
Letter from Capt Gabbett of U.S. relative to
proposed C.G.station.
The Mayor informed the several representatives of th- _, nd
houses who were present that bids would be recieved for
bonds, Norris and Hirschburg submitted a bid of $30,111.0 lefigE ed
Varnedoe, Chisholm & Co submitted a bid of $51,515.00 and
accrued interest; Councilman Tant moved that the bid submitted
by Varnedoe, Chisholm & Co., be accepted; Councilman May r,

A special meeting of Council was held to -night at 8:00 p.m. in the
Council Chamber, and was attended by Mayor McMillan, who presided, and
Councilmen Kreitzer, tayer,Tant,Haar,Parrell,Town Attorney Dutton and
Sam Varnedoe,Chauncey Battey,Henry Carter,Freeman Jelks,Julian Space,
George Sturges.
The meeting was called for the purpose of opening bids on the 330,000.00
issue of bonds and the selling of same.
