ORDINANCE NO. 12177 ,
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AUTHORIZING A
REFERENDUM ON AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 3.3 COMPENSATION;
EXPENSES OF THE CHARTER ELIMINATING FRINGE BENEFITS FOR THE
COUNCIL.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Subject to voter approval as herein provided, Section 3.3
Compensation; Expenses of the Charter of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby
repealed and a new Section 3.3 Council to Set Salary; Fringe Benefits Prohibited, in
enacted in lieu thereof, to read as follows:
Section 3.3. Council to Set Salary; Fring Benefits Pro ibited.
The council shall determin the a ual compensation of councilmen by
ordinance, but the salary of ci shall not be increased or diminished
during his term. No mem o ncil shall receive any fringe benefit,
including, but t limited to, i e r medical benefits, for their service to
the city.
Section 2. T:amen m n as s fo n Section 1 shall be submitted to the
qualified voters of t City of arson, iss i, for their approval, at the election to
be held on the F h day o pril, 1995, at he places designated by the Election
Authority for said tion an the ballot shall be in substantially the following form:
PROPOSITION A
Shall the Charter of t City of Jefferson be amended by the repealing of Section 3.3
Compensation; Expenses and the enacting of a new Section 3.3 Council to Set Salary;
Fringe Benefits Prohibited in lieu thereof eliminating the fringe benefits paid to the
co,oncilmen as provided in Ordinance No. 12177 passed and approved by the City
Council on November 7, 1994?

action 3. The Mayor and City Clerk shall prepare and execute the form of
the Notice of said Election and shall transmit the same to the Election Authority for the
City of Jefferson, Missouri and request said election be conducted by law,
action 4. If a majority of the qualified voters voting at said election shall vote
in favor of the approval of this ordinance, then the same shall be binding in full force
and effect from and after such approval.
Section 5. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of
this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of
competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and
independent provision, as such holdings shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portion thereof.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval.
