ORDINANCE NO. 12178
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AUTHORIZING A
REFERENDUM ON AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 4.2, SALARY, OF THE
CHARTER, ELIMINATING FRINGE BENEFITS FOR THE MAYOR.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Subject to voter approval as herein provided, Section 4.2 Salary of
the Charter of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby repealed and a new Section
4.2, Salary Fixed by Ordinance; Fringe Benefits Prohibited, is enacted in lieu thereof, to
read as follows:
Section 4.2. Salary Fixed by Ordi a ; Fringe Benefits Prohibited.
The salary of the mayor sh II be i d by rdi ance, and shall not be increased
or diminished during the ay , o ice. The mayor shall receive no
fringe benefit, including, ut of t , retirement or medical benefits, for
official service to the city.
Section 2. The amen nt s s t fort in Section 1 shall be submitted to the
qualified voters of the City o fferson, Missouri, for their approval, at the election to
be held on the Fourth day f pril, 1995, at the places designated by the Election
Authority for said election d t ballot shall be in substantially the following form:

Salary and the enacting of a new Section 4.2 Salary Fixed by Ordinance; Fringe
Benefits Prohibited in lieu thereof eliminating the fringe benefits paid to the Mayor as
provided in Ordinance No. 12178 passed and approved by the City Council on
November 7, 1994?

Section 3. The Mayor and City Clerk shall prepare and execute the form of
the Notice of said Election and shall transmit the same to the Election Authority for the
City of Jefferson, Missouri and request said election be conducted by law.
Section 4. If a majority of the qualified voters voting at said election shall vote
in favor of the approval of this ordinance, then the same shall be binding in full force
and effect from and after such approval.
Section 5. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of
this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of
competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and
independent provision, as such holdings shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portion thereof.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval.
