AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AUTHORIZING A
REFERENDUM ON AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 9.4(d) OF THE CHARTER
INCREASING THE TIME FOR FILING A REFERENDUM PETITION.
E BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Subject to voter approval as herein provided, Section 9.4(d) of the
Charter of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby repealed and a new Section 9.4(d)
is enacted in lieu thereof, to read as follows:
9.4 (d) Time for Filing Referendum Petitions. Referendum petitions must
be filed with the city clerk prior to an expiration of forty-five days
after adoption by the council of the ordinance sought to be
reconsidered.
Section 2. The amendment as set forth in Section 1 shall be submitted to the
z ' qualified voters of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, for their approval, at the election to
be held on the Fourth day of April, 1995, at the places designated by the Election
Authority for said election and the ballot shall be in substantially the following form:
PROPOSITION D
Shall the Charter of the City of Jefferson be amended by the repealing of Section 9.4(d)
and the enacting of a new Section 9.4(d) in lieu thereof to increase the time for filing a
referendum petition from thirty (30) days to forty-five (45) days as provided in
' Ordinance No. 12179 passed and approved by the City Council on November 7, 1994?

Section 3. The Mayor and City Clerk shall prepare and execute the form of
the Notice of said Election and shall transmit the same to the Election Authority for the
City of Jefferson, Missouri and request said election be conducted by law.
