ORDINANCE NO. 12194
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AUTHORIZING A
REFERENDUM ON AN AMENDMENT TO SECTIONS 5.1(C), COMPENSATION, AND
6.5(C), COMPENSATION, OF THE CHARTER SPECIFYING HOW COMPENSATION
SHALL BE SET FOR THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR AND CITY COUNSELOR.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Subject to voter approval as herein provided, Sections 5.1(c),
Compensation, and 6.5(c), Compensation, of the Charter of the City of Jefferson,
'4 Missouri, are hereby repealed and new Sections 5.1(c), Compensation, and 6.5(c),
Compensation, are enacted in lieu thereof, to read as follows:
Section 5.1. City Administrator.
(c) Compensation. The city administrator shall be paid a salary of an
amount established by the mayor, with the approval of a majority of
the council, or by a two-thirds vole of the council on its own
initiative.

Section 6.5. City Counselor.
(c) Compensation. The city counselor shall be paid a salary of an
w amount established by the mayor, with the approval of a majority of
the council, or by a two-thirds vote of the council on its own
initiative.

Section 2. The amendment as set forth in Section 1 shall be submitted to the
qualified voters of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, for their approval, at the election to
be held on the Fourth day of April, 1995, at the places designated by the Election
Authority for said election and the ballot shall be in substantially the following form:

If you are in favor of the questions, place an 'X" in the box opposite
"Yes". If you are opposed to the questions, place an W' in the box
opposite "No".
Section 3. The Mayor and City Clerk shall prepare and execute the form of
the Notice of said Election and shall transmit the same to the Election Authority for the
City of Jefferson, Missouri and request said election be conducted by law.
Section 4. If a majority of the qualified voters voting at said election shall vote
in favor of the approval of this ordinance, then the same shall be binding in full force
and effect from and after such approval.
Section 5. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of
this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of
competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and
independent provision, as such holdings shall not affect the validity of the remaining
;. portion thereof.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval.
