ORDINANCE NO. 12302
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, BY ADDING SECTION 2-391. OF THE CODE,TO REQUIRE PROFESSIONAL
LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING FIRMS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The Code of the City of Jefferson, Missouri is hereby amended by the addition of a new
Section 2-391 to require professional liability insurance for architectural and engineering farms which shall read
as follows:
t, Section 2-391. Professional liability insurance required for architectural and engineering firms
A. Every architectural or engineering firm entering into a contract with the City of
Jefferson or with any department of the City of Jefferson shall carry professional liability
insurance coverage in the following amounts:
PROJECT CATEGORY MINIMUM INSURANCE COVERAGE
Studies and Reports $100,000.00
Construction Projects
Less than $500,000 cost $100,000.00
$500,000 to $1,000,000 cost $250,000.00
More than$1,000,000 cost $500,000.00
B. The City may require professional liability insurance coverage in a greater amount if it is
in the best interest of the public and the greater amount is approved by the Council.
s C. The duration of professional liability insurance coverage for construction projects shall
extend for two(2)years from the date of the City's acceptance of the completed construction
r, project.
D. All policies of insurance, indemnification agreements and bonds executed to the City shall
be filed with the City Clerk. The City Counselor shall ascertain whether the surety is
authorized to do business in the State of Missouri, and approve or disapprove as to form. If
any such policy, indemnification agreement or bond is not so approved, the person required
to submit such document shall replace the same with a document complying with the terms
of this ordinance.
Section 2: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
