HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-08-2013 COW MinutesMinutes of the Committee of the Whole Workshop of the President and the Board of Trustees Held on April 8 , 2013 In the Boardroom Mayor Collins called the meeting to order at 7:0 9 p.m. Present were: Trustee Fay, Trustee Lamb, Trustee Peck, Trustee Racich , Trustee Rippy , and Trustee Bonuchi. Others present: Brian Murphy, Administrator; Michelle Gibas, Village Clerk; Allen Persons, Public Works Director; Michael Garrigan, Planning Supervisor; Traci Pleckham, Management Services Director; and Kevin Greco , Police Commander . There were 6 persons in the audience. Trustee Fay moved to approve the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Workshop held on March 25 , 2013. Seconded by Trustee Lamb . Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 opposed. Motion carried. PRESIDENTI AL COMMENTS Mayor Collins: • Congratulated Butch Lafido on receiving the Ira Jones Award. • Welcomed Home USMC Kevin McSorley on Sunday and thanked everyone involved. TRUSTEES COMMENTS Trus tee Fay s tated that the Welcome Home for USMC Kevin McSorley was impre ssive. Trustee Bonuchi commented on the Welcome Home for USMC Kevin McSorley . Trustee Lamb: • Commented on the Welcome Home for USMC Kevin McSorley . • Asked the staff to look into for rent signs where PEP Boys is supposed to go. PUBLIC COMMENTS Mr. and Mrs. Brown, Playa Vista, expressed concern regarding the Board’s decision not to remove the age restriction from the Playa Vista Subdivision. WORKSHOP #1 JOLIET ROAD CORRIDOR STUDY Michael Garrigan stated that staff is seeking input from the Village Board reg arding the potential of proceeding with a corridor study for Joliet Road, between Route 59 and Renwick in view of the proposed IDOT improvements. Mr. Mike Hoffman, Teska Associates, Inc. gave a presentation highlighting the study area. Trustee Fay as ked if the motel site is going to be purchased by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Mr. Persons stated that IDOT plans to acquire the property for detention and a monument. Trustee Fay suggested waiting to see what the impact of the Route 30 wi dening project will have prior to doing the corridor study.
Minutes Committee of the Whole Workshop – April 8, 2013 Page 2 of 2 Trustee Peck stated that before he could authorize the expenditure of a study, he wants the goals to be clear and concise. Trustee Peck stated that he would also like input from the residents. T rustee Lamb questioned what can realistically be done to that corridor, especially since IDOT is acquiring the motel site. He also felt that the lots were not deep enough. Trustee Racich indicated that he does not support doing another study. Trustee Ri ppy stated that he agrees with what the Trustees already stated. Mayor Collins suggested working with IDOT prior to authorizing any study. Mayor Collins read the reminders. Trustee Fay moved to adjourn. Seconded by Trustee Racich . Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 opposed. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m. Michelle Gibas, Village Clerk
