} Job Purpose:
Receives and processes reports of citizen complaints, accidents, and crimes by telephone or
made in person at the Police Department. Provides supportive services to select routine
department daily operations. '+

50% 1. Receives walk-in complaints from citizens. Writes or dictates reports and
enters data into the computer. `
25% 2. Receives selected reports of crime via telephone, writes or dictates the
appropriate reports and enters data into the computer.

,r 12% 3. Takes fingerprints as requested by citizens.

'= 5% 4. Assists police officers in booking and processing of prisoners when deemed
appropriate by the shift supervisor.

5% 5. Takes reports of minor on-street accidents when both parties are present at the
Police Department. Takes hit and run reports that occur on private property. '
2% 6. Conducts tours of the Police Department for groups as assigned by the shift
supervisor.
1% 7. Performs checks of repairs for persons charged with equipment violations.
Physical and Mental Requirements: a
Physical: Ability to sit for periods of two to four hours to take notes, process reports on
computer and dictaphone equipment. Must have visual ability to read documents and
computer screens for prolonged periods. Must be able to work varied hours and shifts.
Mental: Must be able to work with the public in a calm and effective manner.

Job Title: Community Service Officer
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by courses in typing and at least one
year of clerical experience or the equivalent education and experience. Must be able to
obtain Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) inquiry certification within six
months of employment date.
