AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING CHAPTER
2, SECTION 2-46 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI,
CONCERNING LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEES OF THE COUNCIL.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSON, 'MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 2, Section 2-46 of the Code of the City
of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby repealed.
Section 2. A new Chapter 2, Section 2-46 of the Code of the
City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby enacted to read as follows:
(a) At the first regular meeting of the city council held
after the city election, or as soon thereafter as may be practical,
the council shall elect the following standing committees of the
city council:
(1) Committee on public works and planning to be composed
of all council members.
(2) Committee on finance to be composed of all council
members.
(3) Committee on boards, committees and commissions to be
composed of one councilmember from each ward. The
remaining councilmember from each ward shall serve as
an alternate representative to the committee and may
take the place of and vote as a member when the
designated ward councilmember is absent.
(b) Each standing committee of the city council shall hold
its first meeting immediately after the first council meeting
following the general city election. At its first meeting the
committee shall elect a chairperson and a vice-chairperson from
among its members.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
