CALL TO ORDER
Kathryn calls the meeting to order at 4:00pm
July 20, 2015 MINUTES
Freda makes a motion to approve, Frank seconds. The motion passes unanimously.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Kathryn announces that the litter survey ends. Bud is appointed to the Planning Commission.
Bryan announces he would like to join the CRC and will submit his resume.
REPORTS AND DISCUSSIONS
Discussion regarding possibility of the City contracting out beach recycling services; beach
service RFP could include signage, bins, pick up and sorting. Frank recommends 6 month
contract period. Kathryn asked Courtney if an analysis of beach waste/recycling could be
included in the Carrying Capacity Study. Kathryn will ask Michael Bodine if we can use the
sustainability tab on the city website to post updates on the CCS. Discussion of tents and chairs
being left on beach overnight; Diane suggests that a section could be added to the beach rules.
Sand Dollars have been nominated the rating symbol for the Ocean Friendly Restaurant
campaign and the checklist is ready to distribute for “testing”. CRC members discuss where to
donate bonus solar panels. Bud makes a motion to donate all bonus solar panels to Tybee
Island Maritime Academy, Freda seconds, motion passes unanimously. Frank will reach out to
TIMA to discuss logistics.
NEW BUSINESS
Paul announces that there will be an event to celebrate Solarize Tybee!
PendingGo through Memorial Park study to find the best use of funds. Go through priorities to
create action items.
