RULE 1:
The Board shall elect from its members a Chairman, Vice-
Chairman, and secretary. The Chairman shall preside over all Y
meetings of the Board and shall act as the official spokesperson
for the Board. The Vice-Chairman shall act on behalf of the

Examinations for Police officer and Data Processing and
IR. Telecommunications Operator shall be conducted yearly the first
x Saturday in August. Examinations for Police Officer and
Communications Officer may be conducted at other times if the }
Board determines that additional examinations are necessary in
order for eligibility lists to be supplemented. Examinations for
establishment of promotional registers or other employee
registers shall be held at such times as the Board is notified by
f' the Mayor or Chief of Police of the need for supplementation of _3 �•

f. RULE 6. EXAMINATIONS
Examinations for establishment of eligibility or promotional
registers shall consist of open, competitive examinations and may
f : include skill tests, such as typing, shorthand, etc. Such v

examinations shall be designed to determine objectively the
relative qualifications of applicants for employment or
,t promotion. The Board is authorized to delegate testing of skill
levels to public or private testing agencies.
RULE 7: It OTIMATION OF EXAMINATIONS �

RULE 8: COMPLHTTQM np appLICATION
Any person desiring to participate in any employment or
promotional examination shall .complete an application therefor on
a form to be provided by the Board. Failure to complete fully an
application shall result in the applicant being refused
permission to participate in any testing. Applications for
admission to examinations must be received in the City Clerk's
Office no later than ninety-six (96) hours prior to the
commencement of examination.
RULE 9: ADMISSION To EXAMIgATIoNS
Prior to admission to any examination, applicants shall
furnish Positive proof of identification. Only persons who have'
submitted timely applications as provided in Rule 8 shall be
admitted to the examination.
RULE 10: WAIVER QV CERTAIN RULES
The Board, in its discretion, for good cause shown, may
allow an applicant for employment or promotion to take the
examination at a time other than that scheduled. In the event an
applicant is permitted to take an examination at other than the
published time, the Board shall impose such conditions as will
insure that the contents of the examination are kept strictly
confidential.

Every applicant for employment and promotion shall be
subject to a computer criminal history check, said computer check
to be conducted by a police officer designated for that purpose
by the Chief of Police. The results of such computer check shall
be reported by the designated officer solely to the Board. The

Additional credit, not to exceed ten percent (10%) of a
candidate's total examination score, may be given for military
experience, law enforcement experience, and education.
RULE 15: ADDITIONAL CgNRIT LIMITATIONS
Rule 14 shall not apply in the establishment of promotional
registers.
