PERSONNEL POLICY MANUAL BY AMENDING SECTION 14-9. OCCUPATIONAL ;,

WHEREAS, Certain written policies of the City are subject to interpretation
(: ' for their applicability to changing personnel circumstances and new situations.
` WHEREAS, it has been determined to alter some written policies to provide
clearer direction to administrators of City policy. '

WHEREAS, the changes proposed will result in fair and consistent treatment , i
of City employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSON, MO, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 14-9, Occupational injury leave, (a) of the Personnel Policy
Manual as set out in Ordinance No. 11497, is hereby amended to read

such injuries and submit same to the Department director and Personnel &
Safety Off=icer within twenty-four (24) hours of the accident or the next
business day after notification by the injured employee.

Section 2. Section 14-9, Occupational iriury leave (b) of the Personnel Policy '
t• Manual as set out in Ordinance No. 11497, is hereby amended to read
as follows:

Employees injured on the job are covered by the Missouri State Workers'
Compensation Act. This law provides specific benefits including payment of
t: approved medical expenses and partial payment for loss of wages. Payment
for lost time commences after three(3)full days off from work. The first three

Y days off will be charged to sick leave. If the employee has no sick leave, he
%Y, &' may use other available paid or non-paid leave. If the employee is unable to
'+ return to work due to the injury for more than fourteen calendar days, whether
i
consecutive or non-consecutive, after the date of injury, the City's Workers'
Compensation program then covers partial loss of wages for the first three
days. It is the policy of the City to supplement the Workers' Compensation a
payments for all employees with benefits for a period not to exceed twenty-six
' weeks for any one occupational injury. The supplementary gross pay subject
to payroll taxes shall be the difference between the Workers' Compensation ^
} payment and the•employee's normal pay after State and Federal payroll tax
deductions. The employee will receive these supplementary pay checks on the
regular City pay day. ;
{ Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date ; x
of its passage and approval. r
