A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
STAFF TO ENTER INTO A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE LYNWOOD
UNION FOR USE OF THE BYORK BUILDING LOCATED AT 3780 MARTIN
LUTHER KING, JR. BLVD TO PROMOTE AND PROVIDE PUBLIC EXHIBITS
THAT HIGHLIGHT LYNWOOD COMMUNITY HISTORY AND ART
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood understands that preserving and promoting
Lynwood's history and art contributes to the community's quality of life; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood strives to be a leader in encouraging an
engaged community and the offering of quality community experiences and
cultural options; and
WHEREAS, the Lynwood Union has a demonstrated history of providing quality
cultural events and exhibits and has approached the City and offered to operate
a public gallery and exhibit featuring Lynwood's history and art; and
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes and directs staff to negotiate
and enter into a lease agreement with the Lynwood Union to operate a gallery
that features local history and art as described in the related proposal and lease
agreement documents.
Section 2. The Lynwood City Manager or his designee is authorized to
execute any agreement documents related to the use and project.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this City
Council Resolution.

SUBJECT: Facility Use Agreement with the Lynwood Union Gallery
CONTINENT:
The Lynwood Union is proposing to operate a community gallery at the City's
historic train depot (the Byork building). The gallery will highlight and exhibit local
art and history, with access granted to the public during agreed upon times. The
City wishes to consider entering into an agreement with this organization based
on a valid and significant public purpose and benefit.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff respectfully requests that the City Council review and adopt the attached
resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD CITY
COUNCIL AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ENTER INTO A LEASE AGREEMENT
WITH THE LYNWOOD UNION FOR USE OF THE BYORK BUILDING
LOCATED AT 3780 MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. BLVD TO PROMOTE AND
PROVIDE PUBLIC EXHIBITS THAT HIGHLIGHT LYNWOOD COMMUNITY
HISTORY AND ART."
