AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, DECLARING A
4yi TROXLER NUCLEAR DENSITY GAUGE TO BE SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING
THE DISPOSAL OF SAID PROPERTY.
BE IT ENACTED BY'THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI,
AS FOLLOWS:
r; Section 1. The Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, finds that certain i
property in the custody of the Finance Department described as follows: F '
A Troxler Nuclear Density Gauge, Model 3411-B
is surplus property, and as such represents a burdensome cost for licensing, storage
and maintenance, and that the property is no longer needed for any public purpose. `Y
Section 2. The Finance Department is hereby authorized to advertise for bid
R the item described in Section 1 for sale, and to sell the property to the highest bidder.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the

As we discussed, the City Administrator has agreed that the ,}`} 5
Troxler Nuclear Density Gauge, Model 3411-B, Fixed Asset No 01637,
used by the Engineering Division to test compaction, should be
-=r declared surplus.
The gauge is in good condition, but we cannot justify the Xr;Ar
license fee the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is charging. Until .�
last year there was not fee. Last year the fee was $ill c ontinue

year it would be $2 ,250, and all indications are it will c
to climb.
We have to renew our license, sell the gauge, or have it
decommissioned. The NRC decommissioning fee is $1, 350, which we
would have to pay.

Because of the NRC fee associated with transfer of ownership,
which we expect the buyer to pay, we do not believe we will collect c

' much money for the gauge. The value in selling the gauge comes in
avoiding the $1, 350 decommissioning fee.
