' Senter's Heating and Cooling (SENTER'S) has been a customer of ��•� BANK since December of 1988 . Since then, BANK has provided a ' number of funding commitments to SENTER'S to fund projects such as this. All commitments have been funded and repaid satisfactorily. It has been SENTER' S experience that performance bonding has been difficult and time consuming to obtain in the past. Bonding companies typically require reviewed, if not audited, financial statements from the applicant in determining the working capital position of the applicant. SENTER' S financial statements are prepared on a monthly basis inhouse with Lage, Evers & Company .1 compiling year end financial statements. Typically, these statements would not satisfy the bonding companies. It has been asked whether the cost of the bonding is the difference between the bid submitted by SENTER'S and the next lowest bidder. In researching this question with our insurance department, performance bonds of this type would typically cost between $24 to $31 per thousand. Therefore, the cost of a bond of this size would cost somewhere between $375 to 465, which is approximately 7% of the bid differential. Therefore, it appears the cost of the bonding was not the major factor in the wide _z spread of bids .
