BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS .FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subject to voter approval as herein provided, Section 3.2 of the Charter of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby amended by the addition of subsection (d) entitled, Limitation on terms, which shall read as follows: (d) Limitation on terms. A councilman is prohibited from serving more than eight years on the City council, with any service resulting from an election or appointment occurring prior to the effective date,of this amendment not counted toward the total number of years a person could serve. Section 2. Subject to voter approval as herein provided, Section 4.1 of the Charter of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby amended by the addition of subsection (b) entitled, Limitation on terms, which shall read as follows: ' (b) Limitation on terms. A person is prohibited from serving more than eight years as Mayor, with any service resulting from an election or appointment occurring prior to the effective date of this amendment not counted toward the total number of years a person could serve. Section 3. The amendments as set forth in Section 1 and Section 2 shall be submitted to the qualified voters of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, for their approval, at the election to be held on the 6th day of April, 1993, at the places designated by the Election Authority for said election and the ballot shall be in substantially the following form: Proposition 1 Shall Section 3.2 of the Charter of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, be amended by the addition of subsection (d) entitled Limitation on terms, which reads as follows: (d) Limitation on terms. Proposition 2 Shall Section 4.1 of the Charter of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, be amended by the addition of subsection (b) entitled, Limitation on terms, which shall read as follows: (b) Limitation on terms. A person is prohibited from serving more than eight years as Mayor, with any service resulting from an election or appointment occurring prior to the effective date of this amendment not counted'toward the total number of years a person could serve. The Mayor and City Clerk shall prepare and execute the form of the Notice of said Election and shall transmit the same to the Election Authority for the City of Jefferson, Missouri, and request said election be conducted by law. Section 5. If a majority of the qualified voters voting at said election shall vote in favor of the approval of this ordinance, then the same shall be binding in full force and effect from and after such approval. Section 6.
