ORDINANCE NO. 11934
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING TIME
CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, BY AMENDING SECTION 34-
27 OF CHAPTER 34 AS IT PERTAINS TO TRANSIT SYSTEM FARES.
WHEREAS, effective January 1, 1993, a new federal law enables employers to
give their workers transit passes up to $60.00 per month tax free;
WHEREAS, the new law is designed to promote the use of public transit by
commuters;
WHEREAS, a request has been received by the City to make provisions for
employers to utilize the new law.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Code of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is hereby amended by
amending Section 34-27 of Chapter 34 by the addition of a new subsection H to read
as follows:
H. A transit benefit program is hereby established by the
City in which the City shall issue passes to employers for
distribution to their employees which provide for an unlimited
number of employment related rides. The passes shall be issued
by the City finance department on a monthly basis. The price
for a fixed route pass shall be $20.00 per month and for a para-
transit pass shall be $40.00 per month.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the
date of its passage and approval.
