ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, ESTABLISHING AN AD
HOC COMMITTEE TO REVIEW THE RELATIONSHIP AND PROCEDURES ETWEEN
THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, certain issues have arisen which related to the operation of the Parks and
Recreation Department; and
WHEREAS, recent events demonstrate a need to review procedures and methods used
by the Parks and Recreation Commission and the City Council in addressing Parks and
Recreation issues; and
WHEREAS, the interests of the citizens are best served by the mutual endeavors of city
officials, elected and appointed, working for the common good; and
WHEREAS, an ad hoc joint committee of Council members and Commission members
/ would best facilitate resolution of current issues and the general improvement of
relationship between the two bodies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Sect=. An ad hoc committee consisting of three current Council members and
three current Parks and Recreation Commission members shall be immediately

' appointed. The Committee shall elect at its first meeting from among its members a
Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary.

S ion 2. The Committee's tasks shall be as follows:
(a) Review and list all current complaints brought to or by Council
members;
(b) Review the process for lodging complaints with the Commission
and Parks and Recreation Staff members;
f (c) Review organizational relationships and boundaries,including the
Charter and current ordinances;
(d) Prepare a report of its findings, including recommendations for
improving procedures and relationships.
