Kathy Killen - Chairman of bonds election promotion
The minutes of the April 25, 1989 meeting were filed by order of
the chair.
New Business:
The committee discussed the May 4th meeting. In attendance were
the Mayor and several members of the business community. Kathy
Killen will chair the promotional effort for both bond issues
(i.e. parks and clubhouse). Kathy acknowledged total acceptance
of the bond issues in unison by the Chamber of Commerce.
A. Kathy Killen's Promotional Plan:
Kathy discussed with the committee her plan of attack in
promoting the two bond issues. Following her presentation, the
committee voiced their viewpoints and discussed with Kathy what
they would like to see incorporated in this effort to promote the
bonds. It was suggested by the committee to:
1. List strengths and weaknesses during discussion.
2. Editorial viewpoints coming from Polly Collins. Dan
Hormaechea motioned for Polly Collins to submit her
viewpoints to the local paper. Dave Engen seconded. All
were in favor and the motion passed unanimously.
In conclusion, the committee agreed that Dan Hormaechea would
field any questions for the local newspaper.
B. Requests for Proposals:
Bud Schmidt will handle contacts with desired promotional groups
after the bond issue is resolved. Following the meeting with the
two fundraising groups, Signature Events, Inc. is the choice by
the committee with no absolute commitment by the committee until
after the June 6th election.
C. Fee Increases:
Dan Hormaechea suggested a fee increase of $2.00 on weekends
only. Although the request was a good one, the committee agreed
that the fee increase=crease may be associated with the clubhouse
bond by the voting public. The topic was tabled until the next
meeting.
D. Seedling Nursery:
Several seedlings have been donated by various groups for
reforestation around the golf course. Upon Craig Jackson's
recommendation, the committee agreed to plant these seedlings in
a nursery adjacent to #12 fairway.
Without further business, the meeting adjourned.
The next 'meeting will be on June 13, 1989.
