ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH LEWIS AND RICE
FOR THE PROVISION 0F' LEGAL SERVICES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to execute a contract with Lewis and Rice for the .
provision of legal services , for the sum of $25, 000.
Section 2. The contract shall be substantially the same in
foram and content as that contract attached hereto as Exhibit A.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after the date of its passage and approval.

LEGAL .SERVICES CONTRACT
This contract is made and entered into this L day of
1984, by and between i;he City of
J £ 'er on, Missouri, a municipal corporation, hereinafter
referred to as "City, " and Lewis and Rice, hereinafter referred
as "Attorneys . "
The parties agree as follows :
1. Attorneys will represent the City in the case of TCI
Cablevisision, Inc. v. City of Jefferson City, Missouri. This
case is now pending in the United States Dist-rict Court in the
Western District of Missouri. Such representation shall include:
preparation for, and attendance at any hearings, depositions or
trials in this case. Services shall also include research,
consultation, document preparation, and such other similar
matters as may be necessary to fully prepare and conclude the
case.
2 . The City will pay for the services .rendered by the Attorneys
at the following rates :
Partner $135/hour
Associate $90/hour
Legal Assistants $40/hour
The City will also pay any out-of-pocket expenses incurred by
Attorneys in connection with those services. Attorneys will
obtain approval from the City before incurring more than $2, 000
in out-of-pocket expenses in any month.
3. Attorneys will submit to the City a detailed bill each month
itemizing the cost of the services rendered. The City will pay
Attorneys on a monthly basis . Attorneys will notify the City at
any time they anticipate that the total. services for any month
will exceed $10, 000. The total cost of the services under this
contract shall not exceed $25, 000 without the prior written
approval of the City. It is estimated that no more than $7, 500
will be incurred before October 31, 1984 .
4 . City may terminate this contract by giving notice in writing
to the Attorneys. Upon termination of this contract, City will
pay Attorneys for any unpaid services they have already performed
and for any unpaid out-of-pocket expenses already incurred.
