HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD10312 BILL SPONSORED BY COUNCILMAN ORDINANCE CIO. �® AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING THE CITY CODE BY DELETING SUBSECTION 26 . 123 (a) AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SUBSECTION 26. 123 (a) PRESCRIBING AND FIXING RATES AND CHARGES FOR THE USE OF PUBLIC SEWERS AND THE SEWAGE SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, WHEREAS, the City of Jefferson did accept various grants from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the cost of portions of the Jefferson City wastewater treatment works; and WHEREAS, one of the conditions of the EPA grants requires that the City of Jefferson adopt, implement, and maintain a user charge system for the project as approved by the Regional Administrator of the EPA; and WHEREAS, the City of Jefferson did issue Revenue Bonds for the cost of portions of the Jefferson City waste treatment works; and WHEREAS, one of the conditons of the Revenue Bonds requires that the City of Jefferson will fix and maintain rates and make and collect charges for the service and facilities of the system sufficient to provide for the payment of the principal of and the interest on the bonds as they mature and accrue, and sufficient to provide for the operation and maintenance of the system in good repair and working order; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to increase the rates and charges for the services and facilities of the system in order to provide for the payment of the principal of and the interest on the bonds and to provide for the operation and maintenance of the system in good repair and working order, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 26 of the City Code is hereby amended by deleting Subsection 26 . 123 (a) and enacting in lieu thereof one new subsection, which shall read as follows : Sec. 26 . 123 (a) All residential, commercial, industrial and governmental establishments shall be charged for sewer service in accordance with the following rate table. The sewer service charge shall consist of a monthly fixed minimum charge plus a charge based upon the cubic feet of water used per month.
