ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , AMENDING
SUBPARTS ( 1) , ( 3) , ( 4 ) AND ( 6 ) OF SECTION 29-27 OF THE CODE OF
THE CITY OF JEFFERSON TO REFLECT A CHANGE IN THE FEES CHARGED BY
THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT FOR THE TRANSIT SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, it is hereby found and declared that the vote at
the election held in the City of Jefferson, Missouri, on February
5, 1985, on Proposition 14 resulted as follows:
Yes - 2, 511 votes
No - 897 votes
WHEREAS, it is hereby found and declared that a majority of
the qualified voters of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, voting
on said Proposition 14 voted "yes" .
WHEREAS, it is further found and declared that notice of
said election was duly given by publication in the manner
provided by law, and that said election was held and conducted in
all respects in conformity with the Constitution and laws of the
State of Missouri.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . Subparts ( 1) , (3 ) , (4 ) , and ( 6) of. Section 29-27
of the Code of the City of Jefferson, Missouri are hereby amended
to read as follows:
The following shall be the fares to be charged passengers
for riding the city buses:
( 1 ) The general fare to be charged all passengers, except
those riding under other provisions of this section,
shall be fifty cents ( $0.50) .
(3 ) Any child enrolled in any elementary, junior high or
senior high school in the city shall be eligible to
purchase a special student discount pass entitling the
student to twenty ( 20) rides for a cost of nine dollars
($9. 00 ) . Student passes shall be honored only on
school days between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00
p.m.
(4 ) The city, in respect to its citizens sixty-five ( 65 )
years of age and over who have helped to build this
community, shall issue senior golden passes to those
citizens which will entitle their holders to ride the
city buses . These passes shall also be issued to
citizens who are on medicare due to disability. The
senior golden passes will be issued by the city finance
department for a period of one year beginning November
1 to expire on October 31, for the price of fifteen
dollars ( $15. 00 ) To obtain such a pass the applicant
must submit proper proof as to age and residency in the
city. After one half of the total potential useful
life of the senior golden pass has expired, the finance
department shall sell the passes for one half of normal
cost for the remainder of the useful period.
( 6) The fare for the demand-response bus for the
handicapped will be one dollar ($1.00) per trip.
Persons requesting this service must meet eligibility-
criteria outlined in the city's 504 Transition Plan. A
doctor's certification may be required. Bus service to
be provided in the city limits only.
Section 2 . The remainder of Section 29-27 and all other
fees authorized in Section 29-27 which were not voted upon in the
February 5, 1985 election, and not set out hereinabove, shall
remain in effect and unchanged.
Section 3 . This ordinance shall be in full force from and
after its passage and approval.
