REMOTE PARTICIPANTS: Katie Gregoire, Steve Ferris (left meeting early), Tino Kamarck, Elizabeth Randall (Reed Hilderbrand), Madeleine Aronson (Reed Hilderbrand) Call to Order Declaration of a Quorum, Meeting Participation Statement and Recording Statement Chair Wilcock called tha meeting to order at 4:00pm and declared a quorum. Chair Wilcock read the meeting and the recording statements. Public Announcements. and Comment None Reed Hilderbrand Initial Results Summary from May 20th Community Forum and Surve Chair Wilcock read a st6tement regarding the multiple responses to the survey, this statement is available in the packet on page 41.' Elizabeth Randall introduced the summary of feedback from the First Community Forum and the follow up survey. The principals will be shared with the community at the next forum, and the community will have a chance to respond. These principles are the foundation of the scenarios that will be shown at the next forum. Madeleine Aronson shared that about 400 people attended the forum and we received 1,367 responses to the survey, adding that most of the responses were from full-time residents (75%). Ms. Aronson reviewed the key interests of the=Pond Property, (in no particular order): • Provide beach access (swimming, kayaking and SUP) • Increase accessibility to the property and its resources (update roads, add ADA compliant walking trails, parking areas) • Establish conservation areas to protect key habitat and water resources • Connect property to town owned space at Long Pond Woodlands through a trail network • Re -use existing buildings where feasible (potential for nature center, children's day camp, storage) • Limit new building (some interest in affordable housing or seasonal workforce housing) • Build partnership with Brewster Conservation Trust and Mass Audubon for activation and stewardship Committee members provided their comments and feedback on the key interests. Some of the committee comments were centered around Affordable Housing and the comments about limiting new buildings. Ms. Randall explained next steps which include drawing plans with different scenarios. For example, trails with ADA, beach area with dock, moorings and storage, conservation zones and have the community respond in a way that will be helpful and provide direction -to Reed Hilderbrand. Road Man/Discussion of Next Steps, Time Frame, Second Forum Format and Venue Ms. Randall shared that Reed Hilderbrand is starting to run through ideas and at ther;next committee meeting they will be reviewing the scenarios and ideas. The committee will have a chance td give input to help finalize materials for the forum. This forum is looking to test the key ideas with community members. Reed Hilderbrand will be sharing example images of things like the appropriate scaled housing, community center or community campus, as well as examples of type of parking, and a study completed by WXY of a model view of the massing of buildings and how they may be laid out. A number of different options that all reflect to a certain extent the key interests. The forum will be on Saturday August 5, 2023. Short Term Uses of Property_ s a. Update on pop-up/traveling signs including future possible locations or events Chris Williams shared that the traveling signs are available for events within Town, and one is currently up at the library. b. Volunteers for Brewster Conservation Day — July 8, 2023 Four members volunteered to attend, Doug, Katie, Cyndi, and Donna. There was discussion on what handouts will be available. c. Guided walk report update of June 10th,L111h walks r. Cyndi Baran noted that the first guided walk was a success, and it was neat to see the property through the eyes of people who had not seen it before. Thanked Brewster Recreation, Melissa Lowe, Amy Henderson and Reed Hilderbrand for their help and support. Adding, that there were only a couple of minor issues regarding access on the path and there was a lot of questions about if the property is now open to the public, which needs to be clarified. d. Discussion of rescheduling kayak trips to September from a Harwich or other landing Brewster Town Landing will be closed right after Labor Day for construction, there is a lot of interest to reschedule. This will be a future agenda item. FYIs Chair Wilcock noted that all members will be re -appointed, and members will need to be sworn in before the next meeting.
